I woke up this morning with no ideas of what the plans would be. But the weather was so nice I decided to take the scooter, grab the camera with me and leave home for a couple hours. No surprise there, for sure. But what fascinates me is the fact that my brain just said: “go to Cros de Cagnes”. Just like that, no specific reason. But I haven’t been there for shooting in a little while. I think the last time was in 2011 when I met and joined the fishermen on the water for the poutine fishing tradition early in the morning. That was great.
Today was quite different. Mid-day, sunshine, blue water, people everywhere and apparently happy to be there. This is truly what Côte d’Azur should be at this time of the year. Let’s forget the “hits & misses” of previous weeks. We finally made it to Spring.
I wanted to grab some true life shots, genuine and typical Cros de Cagnes shots. So I walked near St-Pierre’s church and then on the shore up to the port (Maison de la Mer) and even a little farther. That’s an area I like because it’s alive, there’s plenty of activities and it provides a wide view on the Sea, shore and mountains.
When I came back home and looked at the photos, I found out there were a couple “keepers” but of completely different styles. One of them was converted to black & white because the subject was so appropriate, even though Côte d’Azur screams for colors. Another is so colorful it reminded me the well-known little port of Portofino in Italy. And finally another photo involving an old lady on a bench, creating some emotion and thoughts about what she was doing there or thinking about. We will never know, but I concluded she was just having a good time under the sun at the sound of the waves hitting the shore.
The toughest part is to pick only one photo for this article. Oh well, it’s a matter of taste and personal preferences. I hope you like it!
