Under pressure in Saint-Paul de Vence

This punchy and colorful sculpture made of polystyrene and resin caught my attention in Saint-Paul de Vence. Presented by the “Alberti Arts Gallery” near the entrance of the village, this sculpture seems pretty big when you stand by it. I found the vivid colors were a big contrast on the blue sky in the background. But it had to be shot at an angle to remove the mountains from the frame and still get the most of it without cropping to much.

Beside the visual aspect, I think the idea is interesting. And this piece is very well executed because it retains most of the details of a real fist and fingers. When looking at it at hi-resolution on the screen, you can see details on the skin and the nails. Well done!

In the end, everything is a question of taste. I’m not usually attracted by huge synthetic art pieces, but this one is really nice. If you end up acquiring something like that, you need to find a place for it. For now I’ll just appreciate it where it is.

Good Light!
