Photographer photographing painter painting
Artist at work, Café de la Place, Saint-Paul de Vence, Côte d'Azur, France, Leica M (Typ 240), Summilux-M 50mm, 1/90 sec., f5.6, ISO 200

Café de la Place was quiet when I was there the other day and the scene was sort of ready for a picture. The painter on the left was either looking at his subject, analyzing the details of what he would put on the canvas, or just taking a little break before completing his work. The field is usually packed with a morning market, pétanque players or tourists. But this time it was more quiet and certainly appropriate for a photograph.

Among the details that got my attention are the painter's hat (Nice, Nice, Nice..) and his bag on the floor, the canvas allowing us to have a peak preview of what the final painting will be, the foliage of the platane trees and the massive wall in the background. For me, this is a typical setup in Saint-Paul de Vence.

I hope you like the photograph and it makes you want to come over and visit Saint-Paul.

Good Light!
