What the fog

What the fog
Wondering where the Sea has gone, Nice, France, Sony RX100, 1/500 sec., f5.6, ISO 125

Nobody's going to argue on the fact that it's great to see the sun and warmth back on the Côte d'Azur. We've been waiting for it for too long now. What a strange season this year!

Yesterday I thought it would be a good idea to go for a scooter ride by the sea. The sun, sand, joggers, kids and smiles everywhere. It almost feels like summer already. I went through Cagnes sur Mer, then Cros the Cagnes and finally Promenade des Anglais in Nice. Past the airport going east I noticed something strange in the sky. Smoke? Dust? Sand Storm? I couldn't figure it out. But it was big, and slowly the sun disappeared. Everything turned grey, as if a storm was coming. But there was no wind at all and everybody seemed relax and going on with their activities.

I wanted to find out what it was. After about 1 km I decided to park the scooter between cars and crossed the street to see what was happening from the sea. Once I reach the shore I realized it was fog. Very tick fog. Suddenly I started to see photo opportunities. I grabbed the camera and started to shoot. I did that for about 15 minutes until the sky started to clear out and then I left.

I wasn't sure if anything good would come out of this, but I was curious to see the shots on the computer. It turned out to be very interesting and I came up with something unusual. The fog served as a huge backdrop/curtain for everything passing in front of it. I got lots of contrast between colors and grey, and lots of contrast between fog and humans.

Let me know what you think. Personally I'm quite happy I was there at the right time.

Good Light!
